PCR Instrumentation
Our Detection kits for real time PCR are intended for microtiter plate format in 100 µL and 200 µL tubes and can be used with real time PCR thermocycler instruments from almost all manufacturers. This means if you already have a real time PCR system in your laboratory, our stand-alone kits are most likely to be compatible for immediate use.
All PCR tests use the FAM channel (494/518 nm) for detection of the target microorganisms and the VIC/HEX channel (535/556 nm) for an internal control reaction. This allows 4everyone Detection Kits to prevent false negatives due to sample inhibition, allowing you to be truly confident about negative results.

The QuantStudio line from ThermoFisher is becoming an increasingly popular instrument offering simplicity and flexibility. PIKA have a close working relationship with ThermoFisher and we can work together to help get the instrumentation and workflow working in your laboratory with a turn-key solution giving you a single point of contact. For further details on the QuantStudio line please visit the ThermoFisher website www.thermofisher.com.
Many PIKA customers use the Open qPCR from Chai Biotechnologies, giving automated reading of results with no need to compare curves, lines or melting temperatures.
Given that Pall Corporation is discontinuing their GeneDisc® Rapid Microbiology System, customers are faced with some difficult decisions in order to continue their daily microbiological testing routines.
PIKA Weihenstephan believe we are uniquely positioned to help customers make the transition from Pall’s “closed” system to an “open” PCR testing environment with a high degree of confidence and minimal hassle. We might even save users time and money along the way.
Customers should be aware that, with the exception of the thermo cycler, all equipment necessary to prepare samples for the GeneDisc® system can still be used after switching to the PIKA Weihenstephan system.
Using PIKA 4everyone Detection Kits are very similar to those from GeneDisc® due to the fact that PIKA Weihenstephan collaborated closely with PALL in the evaluation of their GeneDisc® system. Both systems use similar primers and probes combinations, so users can confidently continue to use any Ct value limits they might have set for routine testing with GeneDisc®.
