This test allows the detection of a vast variety of yeast and mold species together in one broad screening test. 

Both yeasts and molds are known to cause spoilage in several production processes. Commonly known representatives within the kingdom Fungi are species of the divisions Ascomycota and Basidiomycota. 

Within the detectable species range are namely, but not exclusively, the food and beverage spoiling yeasts Brettanomyces (Dekkera), Candida, Debaryomyces, Metschnikowia, Pichia, Rhodotorula, Saccharomyces and the mold species Alternaria, Aureobasidium, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, Fusarium, Nigrospora, Penicillium, Phoma, Trichoderma and many more.
